Belated Happy New Year! Welcome 2023

Belated Merry Christmas and belated Happy New Year as well. I am not going to say I am sorry for not being active. I have been busy in some other stuffs but believe me when I say that written blogs are still one of my beloved hobbies - I still love it more than video blogging (video blogging takes more preparation).

Sorry, I didn't edit the photo anymore. I just want a quick article before I do a new quiet time verse for you guys. So much to do yet little time. I want to tell you more stories about our plans, but I don't want to reveal a lot because I don't know what the future holds. But I am confident the Lord will be by my side because whatever His will is I am all for it!

That is it for now. See you again on the next article. God bless you all and have a nice day.

My World as a Kid

Hello guys! It's been awhile since I've posted an article here. Well, I just stumbled into something funny and cool at the same time and I wish to share it to every one. I just remembered how I see things when I used to be a kid before and I am hoping the kids still does imagine things like we did. Here is what I found in Facebook Page Funny Stuff. By the way, I just created the names / captions and there are no actual names like that (I hope).

Spaceship Peeler Enterprise

TBone Starship - sorry dunno what this is.

Spice Rocket

Kelvin Satellite

Scoop Cruise

Sonix Spacecruise

Virgin Cargo

Aubreylata Spacefrigate - this actually looks cool!

Panasonic Cruise ER-GB40

H&S Battle Cruise (H&S means Head and Shoulders hehe!)

Okay, I admit that I did imagined my ballpen and eraser being a spaceship before but some of the images here are just new to me. Well, kids this days have a lack of imagination since there are smart devices or smartphones that hinder their creativity so let's take them away from those things from time to time. That is why, I let my son play with things sometimes - anything he can play with as long as it is not sharp or very pointy or could hurt them.

So what else, have you imagined when you where a child? Comment and share what was on your mind before. Thanks for the time spending with us.

A Quick Pictorial with Noah

While I was tidying up things in the living room, I saw Ize's old pair of shades that looked like a goggles or pilot goggles so an idea came to me. I think it will look great on Noah and while he is wearing his Kuya Ize's old leather (not really) jacket. So after I gave him a bath, I let him wore his Kuya Ize's old jacket and the pair of shades. I took pictures using my Nikon D90 and the pictures are just below. I only posted the best ones.

By the way, to all my non-Filipino readers, kuya means older brother. I am just a hobbyist in photography but not on career level or professional so I am open to any suggestion if you have any. By the way I used an AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D lens. My model is Noah Caleb Libed Ablon, a 1 year old cute boy who is turning 2 on Nov 11.

Lessons in Moving to a New House

When moving to a new house, cleaning up and fixture rearrangements would probably be your daily things to do for a month or two specially if you have lots of things. This day, I have to do just that for our new house to be tidied-up a bit. Life is easier when you have special tools with you and it helps to have a very determined heart to clean-up specially when you see a lot of mess around you. It makes you feel tired just by looking at it and laxy afterwards if you don't start right away. Good friends are great too because they help you move or carry heavy things. I still would like to thank friends and brothers Jayson and Albert for helping us out in moving our heavy stuffs.

This was me while on our last moving day. Tired and sweaty but finally relieved.

Stuck Home

Four days ago, I had my right should sprained and just right after that I was in agony and in pain. Yes, it was that painful. I was able to relieve the pain for awhile with Forever Living Products KSA's product called Aloe Heat but I guess it will take more than that to totally relieve the pain. So I asked for the help of my friends if they knew of a person who can massage my sprained shoulders.

Two days ago, I had a full body massage although it wasn't what I've expected. I was asking for a massage to fix my aching right shoulder area. I was relieved but now it is back, I guess the only way to fix this is to find a specialist for this called "Manghihilot". They are also massaging but they specialize on sprained areas.

Now, here I am and can't do a thing or two with my baby boy Noah. I'm glad he is not grouchy even after having a vaccine last night. I could fold some clean laundries but right after I make this post. So that's it for now. Here is a picture of me and my wife before I got sprained, at least we got to enjoy a fun walk before I got stuck here at home.

For the meantime, I'm on Relaxon and Celebrex to ease the pain and some Aloe Heat Lotion. See you again soon.

Noah's Birthday Celebration

I would like to once again thank the people who have joined us in celebrating our son-Noah on his 1st birthday. We are truly grateful for sharing your time with us. We thank God that we have celebrated that wonderful moment next to each other as a complete family. I know it is a great privilege to have your complete family with you during a special occasion like this. It's not often an OFW celebrates a moment like this with his/her complete family with him/her so we are truly grateful to God.

It was fun just to watch the kids play with each other during the parlor games and with the participation of their parents, the fun doubled. Although Noah still can't appreciate the fact that he has a lot of gifts, we know in our hearts that he was so happy that day. I have a proof and you can watch the video below and you can even check the pictures.

The Birthday celebrant, Noah.

Family Reunited

Last October 12, 2012, we had our flight going back here in Jeddah and it would probably be the most difficult travels (not worst) I've made because I was carrying one infant (Noah) and three hand-carry bags which I practically maximized in weight. We traveled via Saudia Airlines and it was a non-stop travel.

On my back, I was carrying my laptop bag which also contains some traveling clothes for my children, in case they make a mess of their current ones. In front, I am using a baby-carrier which I am very thankful I had with me which of course is where I carried Noah while walking. Another bag is my camera bag which contains my Nikon D90 camera (below) and on top area of the bag is Noah's feeding bottles and milk. Last bag contains Ize's and Noah's toys, Noah's diapers and an extra can of Noah's milk. And I've also maximized our luggage bags, one weighed 34 kilos and the other I pressume was 24 kilos (thanks to the check-in stewardess for considering our 34 kilos luggage, it would have been a burden tor me to transfer most things to the other luggage while carrying an infant boy and three hand carry bags). You might be wondering how I ended up traveling alone with my two children. Well, my wife is already here in Jeddah and since we are dependents to my wife and she's currently working here in Jeddah, I have to carry all the burden.

My mom and brother-Tonton took us to the airport and there we have parted ways. Felt sad but at the same time excited while my son vocally told me how excited he feels about the travel. I'm glad I was able to carry-on this task without any problems or issues. The only issue I had were back-pains and shoulder pains and I've endured it for around four days. But it was all worth it because now that we are all together once again, we are a happy family again.

Mission Accomplished!

Today I was able to finish everything, the goals I needed to do before going back to Jeddah. Thanks to God for giving me the strength and knowledge. I felt relieved and finally had a piece of mind, knowing there aren't any expenses I should be thinking regarding our Jeddah come back.

I went to the agency today and got back our original passports with the stamped visa on it, yehey! Went to D.O.T. (Department Of Tourism) immediately to apply for reduced tax. I was welcomed by demonstrators in front. At first, I thought they were all applying for reduced tax too and said to myself "Oh my, what a line!" but then I noticed that there aren't any line which is much more disturbing knowing there aren't anyone monitoring or coordinating them. Thank goodness they weren't there for D.O.T. too. There banners were faced down so I couldn't tell what they are fighting for. I went inside so I can finish up early and get home and just did what I have to do. Thankfully, the people there were very helpful and rather happy (made me look again if I was on the right place), nice upgrade D.O.T. -- Processing was quite fast too, you can feel the difference.

After that, I treat myself a meal at Wendy's which is just right outside the D.O.T. I ordered a fine and tasty looking Baconator and upgraded my drink to a float only to feel disappointed. Just check out the image below.

Notice the small image on the picture? It looks more yummier than the burger on the big image. The small picture is the image of a Baconator while the burger I had doesn't nearly look like it -- yes, it's also a Baconator. I should sue them for false advertisement but don't have time for that so I just sighed while looking at the picture, said my prayers and took a big bite at it. The float is quite sweet, it actually made the Sarsi taste bad - bad combo. However, the Baconator is quite nice but I still prefer their old Bacon Mushroom Melt.

That's it for now. Just had a chat with my lovely wife. I'll see you soon, we'll see you soon. We love you.

Reconnecting with Family in Doha-Qatar

June 5 was our flight to Doha and I felt so excited since it's been a long time since I've had another vacation. Although there was a feeling of bitterness knowing it wasn't really a vacation for me (I am out of job and my visa is exit only, along with my kids) and add to that, I didn't receive my last salary and all my end of service reward as well. But it was time for happiness, I set it aside and decided to surrender to my excitement. The feeling of reconnecting with our families is enough to quench the sad tale I just had with my previous employer.

To cut it short, we had a great two-week vacation at Doha Qatar. Here are some of the best shots we had on our adventure there. Doha is where my in-laws work and live.

11-11-11: Welcome to our Family, Noah Caleb!

I am supposed to be sleeping now but I can't help but to blog this great moment so here it goes. Today another great blessing has come to us and the gift came in a very small package. Today, my beloved wife gave birth to a healthy baby boy and we named him Noah Caleb and his cousin Ate Guian just gaved him a nickname already "NC" and thus his nickname shall be "Encee".

Wednesday morning around 7:30 am, during my sleep and while I was rolling my lazy and sleepy and slender (bwahaha!) body on my son's side I heared Leah said "Dad, dinudugo ako!" (Dad, I am bleeding!). Immediately, I stood up and said "Hah!". When your wife is pregnant, those words can't be ignored because it is not a small deal. I asked her how she feels and decided to wake up completely. After that I went to the other room and prepared to pack-up things so we could go to the hospital. When I came back she said that maybe if she didn't move and just lie down, it will go away. It never went away and one more thing happened, her water broke. It is not her due yet because tentatively, the baby's due is around 2nd week of December.

My First Cellphone

I can still remember how communication evolved. From pagers came big analog cellular phones which you have to recharge for about 12 hours. We used to have one at home and our electric bill went up just because of it. Years went by and then came smaller cellphones. I remember that time Nokia 3210 was the first big hit in town and not just the town but the whole world (I think). Back then I have a few friends who decided to go along with the trend. As a student, I didn't have the luxury of buying one even when I started working. I've worked hard but never owned one.

When I started working abroad (around 1998), I remember telling myself "I'll definitely buy a cellphone this time" but it didn't happen as well. That time, communications in Saudi Arabia was so outdated. There were no cellphone services and no cell sites and cellphones were only seen in pictures and on TV. Just to give you an idea of how poor their technology was that time, back in the Philippines, internet dial-up is already available but not here in Saudi Arabia. There were no internet providers yet and call rates are up so high. There were a few internet providers that came but it was too expensive and you will have to connect via long distance to Bahrain in order to connect and receive data via satellite .

QT-10014: Romans 12: 4-5 (Division of Labor)

For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.

It's been a long time since I've made an addition to the series of Quiet Time. Once again, I ask your forgiveness. I think it is great and timely that I discuss something about division of labor.

So what is Division of Labor?

Whereever you look, there is always a division, there is always a group. At work, we are designated on a group called department (eg. Information Technology, Human Resource, etc..). Our task at work depends on our skill or the job description we are hired for. Like in a restaurant, there is the cook, cook's helpers, the waiter or food servers and cashiers and they all share the same group but different tasks. They all depend on each other's performance and if one is not performing properly the whole group's performance maybe affected.

Blessing in Technology

Last week, I went with my wife to the hospital for her follow-up check ups for her regarding her past issue of blood clot and hospitalization. I've already posted the issue here before. Well, so she had another ultrasound to check for the remaining blood clots. Thank God, there were no more traces of blood clot. We are both so relieved to hear that her blood clot is totally gone and we thank God for His healing power and of course thanks to the prayers of our beloved friends and family.

Since she's already there, Leah asked the doctor if he could show me the baby. I felt so excited. It is my first time to see a baby on the ultrasound monitor and not in the film or printed out paper. And the baby didn't disappoint my excitement, the baby actually showed-off. The baby was playing with his/her feet, even Ize felt excited to see the baby moving and playing. I never saw Ize's ultrasound before because Leah always had her ultrasound while at work in King Khalid National Guard Hospital.

The Victor's Challenge

Thanks to all who prayed for my wife while she was suffering from thrombosis (blood clot). In my previous article I have told of my wife's health issue regarding her blood which is called antithrombine deficiency. The medicine that she's taking is Clexane and basically it is to keep her blood from getting thick which could cause thrombosis or blood clot. Well, as you can see it happened and she suffered a lot of pain. Thankfully, it didn't get worst - worst could mean cardiac arrest (caused by blocked nerves) or pulmonary embolism (blockage of nerves in the lungs). There are some other worst complications but I am thankful to God it didn't go there.

I Am Back!

Many things happened this past few days, months to my assumption. Praise God for His blessings and I'm trully grateful for His provision.

First of all, for the strength and wisdom while my wife was away and I'm alone with my son. Actually, the yaya is still with us. Thankfully God knows we needed her; that's probably the reason her schedule for deportation was delayed many times.

Second is for the provision of job for both me and my wife which God uses to provide us our needs. It has been months (probably a year) that we are trying to make all ends meet and with His help we were victorious. A blessing came to us in a form of a job offer and another great thing is that my wife is pregnant and is now on her 11th week (I think).

Super Izeboy vs Apron Man

Just had a duel with Super Izeboy and here are the events that happened awhile ago after I came back from work.

I thought I'll never see sunlight after this.
Here are the rest of what happened.
I shall return!

The Proud Parent

Ize pretending to be Super Larry

Ize pretending it is cold.
Having a big salary, house and lot, car and other luxurious things maybe a good thing to have but nothing beats a healthy living with your family. A child that looks up on you even when the world looks down on you. You may look small to others and you may feel weak but to your child you are a big person because of the great things you offer to him/her and you are a strong person that they can rely on.

Be a happy parent and be proud of it. It is a wealth with great value. It is a present with great love from above. I always thank God for the great privilege He gave me - a job and a life together with my family ,a blessing of having to see my child grow.

Nothing special today, just sharing thoughts. God bless to all parents out there - it is always our day.

Bakit ba kasi kailangan umalis?

The PEBA Jeddah Chapter EB

July 8, PEBA Jeddah Chapter had a mini-EB and at last I was able to join this mini-event which I don't usually do. It was a first time for me so I felt a bit nervous if I'll be able to fit in the crowd. I am also quite shy because I don't know who I am going to meet. I know Sir NJ and Kenji will be there but I don't know who else are coming. So here is what happened:

I went to the meeting place which is at the Indonesian Cafe. It is quite hard to memorize the cafe's name so I decided to also call it Indonesian Cafe like Sir NJ did. When I went to the cafe, it read a different name so I decided to stroll around to look for the "Indonesian Cafe". Back home, I was quite sure it is the only Indonesian Cafe in Balad area but when I read it's name I said to myself "I thought I knew Balad area so well". I have been working in the area for almost 11 years now so I thought even if I walk there with blind-folds I could tell where the shops are - perhaps I was wrong.

Since I was still quite sure it is the place, I decided to try their sweet drink called "Indonesian Cold Drink". At first sip of the cold drink I almost cough - it is really sweet!. I checked the cold drink and noticed the concentrated syrup under it - "silly me!". Lesson learned: I am not drinking Pinoy's "samalamig" so when drinking foreign drinks, mix it well first hehe!. "So that's the purpose of the spoon they gave me hahaha!" (I laughed quitely in my mind of my own stupidity). I took some pictures around the place so I could post some pictures here at my Baul and after enjoying the cup and saw the time (almost 3pm in my watch), I said to myself - "I should have bought water - it's still so sweet hehe!". Okay, I was actually worried when I saw the time. Indonesian Cafe at 2:30 was the appointed time and place. I am already thinking that they are probably drinking coffe somethere in Balad called Indonesian Cafe - perhaps I was really wrong.

I decided to stroll around and look for "Indonesian Cafe" (btw, I didn't tell this to the guys when I met them coz I don't want them to feel guilty about such a small detail hehehe!) and every person I try asking points me in the same direction. Yes, the place which is NOT called Indonesian Cafe. So after asking 3 more people that pinpoints me to the same location, I went back to the place and found Indonesians there enjoying a chat and having a few drinks. I also found a group of 3 pinoys but none of them I recognize. Now, my only option is to ask Sir NJ himself. Thinking that he'll be driving (since he said, he'll probably meet us later), instead of calling him I decided to just send him a text message. He'll probably read it when he reaches Balad area or atleast inform me the right place if they are already there. My phone rang and saw Sir NJ calling me, it's a good thing my shyness and nervousness didn't occur to me that time or else ... I don't know hehehe! Yes, that is how shy I am. So I responded almost immediately and he assured me that it is precisely the place that he is talking about. He asked me if I already met Kenjie - I said no. "Where are you Kenji!" (I shouted in my mind hehe!). If I remember it right, he told me that he is halfway. I still have some spare time so I let him know it's okay even though I don't have any idea how long or how far is halfway hehe! Anyways, Kenjie's house is just a few blocks away from where I am - I could throw a bottle and he'll probably hear the sound of it breaking (No, I'm just kidding but I can see his place from where I am sitting).

So after, contemplating on the paragraph above, I realize this is crazy. It is already four paragraphs and I still have no story about the meeting. So okay, to shorten things. Sir Nj  (Desert Aquaforce) came with his Malaysian friend, Anuar and side-kick Zakkir, followed by Pepe (Camera ni Cabrera and X-Spot) and Nelson (Soy Negrense) and then Kenji (Thoughtskoto). One thing, I've realized that time - I don't have to be shy about this wonderful people. Although we don't share the same ideas about things, nor share the same faith, nor the same professions, but we all shared the same fate as all other OFWs  - the sadness of being away from your family when we all first came here. Another great thing is, we can all express it through our blogs. Oh! another thing I've learned from this mini-EB, now I can tell who Nelson and Pepe is, hahaha!

Kenji and Sir NJ laid us ideas about the PEBA's upcoming new theme and the story behind it (I won't reveal it in my blog, so we'll just leave that to PEBA's website). And while Kenji explained the things and the progress of PEBA's programs and the people who benefit to it (Charitable foundations), I became excited. Just to clear out things, not one from PEBA official benefit from the collected donations. It is a dream for me to someday help people through organizations that I am affiliated with. Now upon learning PEBA's charitable mission, I am more honored to be part of PEBA.

I thought PEBA's concern was just for the OFWs living abroad, but after hearing their views and most specially when I learned what the upcoming theme is, I realized PEBA is also concerned about the families left by OFWs back in our country. I hope and pray, by launching the new PEBA theme which will be opened not just for the OFWs around the world but for the locals in our country who has an OFW family member - that people will listen and realize the values which will be learned from the new theme.

Okay, back to the mini-EB topic. We had an exchange of stories and I found new interesting things to contemplate with. Of course, the employer topic was always a mainstay. I felt sad knowing more OFWs experience delayed salaries from their employers and like many other OFWs nowadays, internet and TV is the only way to defeat sadness while working in a foreign country. It was a very productive EB. I hope I get to know more PEBA Jeddah Chapter members soon, of course I am also open to other countries and PEBA Philippines as well. I am already thinking of my vacation this December in Manila and Doha Qatar. God willing, I'll meet George (Pope) there and hopefully some other PEBA Doha Chapter members.

It was a nice experience. Thank God, I found new friends.

Here are a few pictures taken from our EB. I'll grab the others from Facebook later from Pepe's photos.

I wish to thank Sir NJ and Kenji for arranging this mini-EB, it was a great experience. Thanks Nelson and Pepe for being there, it was nice meeting you guys. I still can't believe that I've already met the people behind the blogs I follow. It won't be the last, if ever there is another EB and if I have time - I'll be there to meet you guys. Thank Sir NJ for the freebie shrimps, it was very tasty. My wife cooked a few while it's fresh - "Ang sarap papakin!". Nice meeting Anuar and Zakkir too.
